The unknown facts about Covid19 are something that we should all be talking about and no one is. We have pretty much figured out how to prevent death and hospitalizations with our vaccinations and new miracle pills. Both are getting a lot of attention. We have also talked about Long Covid but not nearly enough. Especially when you consider that we have yet to figure out how to treat it effectively. Long Covid can be devastating. However, none of these topics are what we really need to be talking about right now. It is unbelievably important that the younger generations understand the potential dangers that result from becoming infected with Covid19. Recovering from Covid19 no matter what the severity……DOES NOT MEAN ITS OVER!
Viruses like to be the gift that keeps on giving. Herpes as we all well know comes back over and over again. Lack of sleep, anxiety, too much sun and stress will kick start Herpes all over again. People have been getting Chicken Pox since the days of the Greeks. Not until the early 1900s did we discover that Shingles is the gift that Chicken Pox gives us later on in life. It seems to me that viruses many times, do one of two things. They either re-emerge with their original infection or they re-emerge with a new kind of infection. This is why anyone that has been infected with Covid19 cannot ever miss their covid19 vaccinations. This is also why it is so important that the younger generations understand that they really don’t want this disease. If they get infected with Covid19, they will be the ones that will most likely be affected by the gift that Covid19 leaves behind. The older generation will probably die of old age before they see its re-emergence. Then again, maybe not. You have to remember. We only have 2 years of data on Covid19. 2 years isn’t nearly enough for us to know about the ramifications of Covid19. We know that Covid19 attacks the lungs. So, does that mean that we may all have a severe lung disease in the future? Maybe we will develop an immunity deficiency. Then again, we may end up with nothing. No one knows! We do know one thing for sure. If we protect ourselves from Covid19 now, we won’t have to worry about it in the future. It seems to me that there are a few phrases that come to mind when considering this problem. They are, “better safe than sorry”, “error on the side of caution”, and of course, “those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it”. These are the reasons I have contempt for all the Republican governors that are preventing mask mandates etc. for kids in school. They are very likely condemning at least some of those children to a disease that keeps on giving……..and taking!
