The Reward For Delaying Your Covid19 Infection

As I said in my Unknown Facts About Covid 19 commentary, viruses are the gift that keep on giving. I wanted to follow up on that commentary with an additional reason for avoiding Covid19 for as long as possible. Consider this. It takes a long time for the medical field to recognize that a disease exists much less where it comes from. Once they have done both they have to come up with a way to fight it. A vaccine is the obvious choice in the case of viruses. However, we don’t know if in fact Covid19 will re-surface in our bodies years later. Evidence suggest that it very well might. We also don’t know how severe the re-infection might be if it does happen. What we do know is the more severe the re-infection, the faster we act on it. Herpes does not have a vaccine yet. However, Covid19 does. The difference most of the time is the money and resources committed to eradicating the problem. If Covid19 does resurface with a serious affliction than we can rest assure we will get on it right away. However, as I previously said, we need time to recognize the problem, come up with a vaccine and then distribute it.

Now I have a scenario for you to think about. Lets say Covid19 resurfaces with a lung disease that is fatal. After all, it does attack the lungs. Lets pretend that it takes us 2 years to realize that this new lung disease is a direct result of Covid 19. Lets also pretend that it takes 1 year to produce a vaccine and 6 months to distribute it. (These projections are very optimistic because of a multitude of variables). That is 3 years and 6 months from the time this new disease is recognized to the time we have distributed a cure for it. In this particular example, I don’t want to get infected by Covid19 for at least 3 years and 6 months after the original Covid19 infections started to occur. That way, by the time I get re-infected, there will already be a cure in place. That is assuming the disease progresses in a consistent manner with all of those previously infected. One other thing you have to remember. A vaccine for Covid19 does not eradicate Covid19 from your body. Its purpose is to keep you from getting Covid 19 and reducing the severity if you do get it. Once you get Covid19 you are forever at the mercy of it.

So, for all of you folks that think you are safe because you have been vaccinated and boosted. You are not safe! You can still get infected! That is why I say there is a reward for preventing Covid19 infection for as long as possible. The bigger the buffer between the early infections and your infection could be the difference between dying or not dying from Covid19 later on in life. Do not be ashamed to wear a mask, social distance or get vaccinated. This virus is not a political football. It is an attack on the human race and we must defend ourselves accordingly.
