I was always skinny until I decided to quit smoking. Of course quitting was the right thing to do but it did not help my waistline at all. Then to make matters worse I started driving Uber. For hours a day the only exercise I had was getting out of my car to find a restroom. The final roll on my stomach came with the advent of the Corona Virus epidemic. I had to shelter in place for a year and a half because of my multiple underlying health conditions. Yep, it was the perfect storm for weight gain. Then one day, I finally noticed I was as round as I was tall. I finally decided it was time to lose weight. The first thing I did is I got rid of all the carbs in my house. I didn’t throw them away. I just stopped replenishing them. White rice….Gone! Ice Cream….Gone! (My favorite dessert now is a bowl of blueberries with a lot of whip cream on top) Sugar….Gone. (I use a stevia extract now) Carbs in general….Gone! Then I started a list of things I can and should eat. One thing you need to know. My priority was losing weight. Not preventing a heart attack. So, if a product was less than perfect for my heart that was okay as long as the carbs were low. I figured as long as I lose my excess weight I can work on the heart thing later. Besides, if I have a heart attack and die than I don’t think I need to worry about dieting anymore. Anyhow, I have been dieting for two months now and I have lost 18 pounds. This is the best part. I am a big eater. I eat a lot and I never changed that. I also did not exercise. I just got rid of the carbs!
