I live in the desert so I know what a hot car feels like. If you lucky enough to have one of the newer cars with a remote cooling option than you are a happy camper. However, if you are not than you should like my trick for cooling off a hot car quickly. The first thing you want to do before you exit your vehicle is always leave your sunroof tilted open (if you have one). Heat rises so its a very functional, safe way to vent your vehicle. How many times have you heard of someone breaking into a vehicle through the sunroof? With that said lets move on to my procedure of cooling off a hot car quickly. First, you want to roll down all the windows…..duh. Then start your A/C. For those that use automatic A/C in their car, you don’t need to set the thermostat down to freezing. The thermostat will do that automatically until the internal cabin temperature reaches the desired temperature. Just set it at the temperature you want in the cabin. Then what you want to do is start driving with all the windows still down. After about a block or so, (depending on how how fast your A/C kicks in) you want to close your sunroof (if you have one) and roll up your front windows only. Then after another block or so (depending on how how fast your A/C kicks in) you can roll up your back windows. This is what happens when you do this. First you aired out the car. Then you started your A/C for obvious reasons. Then you aired out your car some more with the wind while you were driving. This technique also helps cool off the dash etc. Then when you closed your sunroof (if you have one) and rolled your front windows up you pushed the remaining warm air in the front to the back utilizing the A/C and fan. Then of course you rolled up your back windows to keep your air conditioning inside. My car cools off in 5 minutes in 115 degree weather. It works for me and it will work for you!
